Afrifresh recently sponsored Ambalagi Farm's soccer team and their coach with new kit.

They played their first 2 games over the weekend and won both!

A fresh approach (Article in Business Excellence)

South African fresh fruit producer Afrifresh Group has developed a powerful integrated agricultural business model that is improving farming and export efficiency in Africa. New development director Roy Fine explains.

The South African fresh produce industry has changed beyond recognition since the introduction of the Marketing of Agricultural Products Act in 1997, with a proliferation of small entrepreneurial companies taking advantage of the deregulation and exporting locally grown fresh produce worldwide. In the citrus fruit and grape industries in particular, many of these companies have either closed down or remained relatively small and locked in to their original size and form.

Melvyn Baker has a bright future

Melvyn Baker an employee at head office, recently retired after several years' service within the Group.  Melvyn has chosen to establish his own business procuring and selling  fruit and vegetables as well as firewood from the Group's farms.  Afrifresh donated one of their farm vehicles to Melvyn to assist him in his business venture and to ensure that he will be able sustain himself and his family into his retirement.

 The Group wishes him all the best for his future and business endeavours.  Here Mr Bernie Denton, General Manager Afrifresh Farms is seen handing over the keys of his "new" vehicle.
Fruit Logistica Berlin 2012

Senior members of Afrifresh and SCPB attended the internationally renowned Fruit Logistica fresh produce trade fair in Berlin this February.  The industry leading event had a record number of exhibitors, 2537 in all. More than 56,000 trade visitors from 139 countries were in Berlin to view the full spectrum of products and services across the entire fresh produce value chain..

Founded in 1992 as an import business to supply retailers with out of season fruit, the company today is one of the top five South African fruit exporters. It continues to specialise in the export of grapes and citrus while developing its apple and pear business. With its head office in Cape Town, Afrifresh employs more than 2 000 people.
